Lloyd was born Christopher Allen Lloyd, the youngest of seven children, was born on October 22, 1938 in Stamford, Connecticut to Ruth and Samuel Lloyd. His father was a lawyer while his mother, the daughter of one of the founders of the Texaco Oil Company, Lewis Henry Lapham, was a singer.
Christopher Lloyd followed his mother’s steps to pursue a career in the arts as he began acting from a very young age. As a teenager, he completed a theater apprenticeship in New York and Massachusetts before taking acting classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater, among other places.
